When on the road - strange things can happen

Then, suddenly and without precedent, Todd veered off the Coastal Road and into the heart of the beast (formerly known as Oxnard). Perhaps the red paint of the Jeep angered him and made him give chase. Todd was not deterred or scared. He just headed into the dark wilderness with only his sense of smell directing the car. At first, everything seemed normal. We stopped for gas and to hit a restroom. The gas station restrooms were closed (out of order). With crossed legs, we hobbled next door to the pizza place where the very nice lady behind the counter let us use the restroom despite the sign that said "restrooms for customers only". Then we decided to just drive out of town. Easier said then done. The streets were dark and twisted. As we headed down what we thought was route 1 south, the car compass showed we were headed north. Darkness closed in on us. We could hear the growls and of untold demons. Was this going to be the end of our tour? Clif's positive words of wisdom helped Todd escape the beast's maw and discover the escape route that led us to "The Many Stoplights of Malibu". We arrived at the house of our friends, Jim, Lisa, Michael and Jackson at around 9pm. We visited for a while before heading to Finn McCool's Irish Pub for dinner.
